"CONCERTO SIX TWENTY-TWO" TO BE SET ON LIMON DANCE COMPANY. LUBOVITCH COMPANY TO HOST A CELEBRATION ON SEPTEMBER 29th.

Lar Lubovitch and long-time company member Leonard Meek have just set Lubovitch's signature dance, "Concerto Six Twenty-Two," on the Limón Dance Company. The dance is being performed at the Joyce Theater through October 3. Choreographed in 1986, "Concerto Six Twenty-Two" received a remarkable premiere at Carnegie Hall and quickly became one of Lubovitch's most celebrated works. The performances by the Limón company mark the first time the work has been seen in New York since it was last performed by the Lar Lubovitch Dance Company exactly 10 years ago.

"Concerto Six Twenty-Two" is the first dance by Lubovitch to set on the Limón company. The connection between the companies is especially meaningful. Years before founding his dance company in 1968, the young Lar Lubovitch (then an undergraduate student at the University of Iowa) saw a performance given by the Limón Dance Company, and it was this performance that Lubovitch cites as one of the pivotal moments that led him to abandon his studies as a painter in order to devote his life to dance.

The Lubovitch company is celebrating the occasion on September 29th with a post-performance champagne reception at the Joyce Theater. The reception, following a performance of the work, will feature an exclusive insider's talk about the dance and the company. Metro-NYC alumni of Johns Hopkins University will also be joining Lubovitch supporters for this celebration. Tickets to the combined reception & performance will cost $100 (or $150 for Patron tickets) and are available through the Lubovitch office.

To order regular tickets - on nights other than September 29th - for Lar Lubovitch's "Concerto Six Twenty-Two," contact the Joyce Theater at 212-691-9740 or visit www.joyce.org.
